Since I was licensed in 2012, my entire career has been focused on criminal law. I look forward to continuing to serve El Paso County as Judge of County Criminal Court at Law Number One, by running an efficient docket while treating all participants involved with patience, fairness and respect.

- Linda

BACKGROUND

Linda is the daughter of Ignacio Pratti Estrada and Mona Estrada. She was born in Austin, Texas, where her family lived while her father attended law school. After he graduated, her family moved back home to El Paso and she has lived here ever since. She has two siblings and is the auntie of two nephews and a niece.

EDUCATION

Linda attended the University of Texas at El Paso and majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Legal Reasoning. She was a proud participant of the Law School Preparation Institute and earned her bachelor’s degree in 2008. Linda moved to San Diego, California to attend law school at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and graduated with her Juris Doctorate degree in 2011.

CAREER

After law school, Linda came home to practice criminal defense alongside her father. During that time, she represented individuals charged with offenses from Class C misdemeanors to Murder. She worked hard to protect her clients’ rights and helped them navigate their way through the criminal justice system. In 2018, Linda was appointed as a part-time Criminal Law Magistrate where she worked evenings, weekends and holidays, while maintaining her criminal defense practice. Linda left private practice to accept a full-time position as a Criminal law Magistrate in 2020.

JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE

As a Magistrate Judge, Linda has presided over thousands of hearings and has reviewed and issued search and arrest warrants for offenses from Class B misdemeanors to Capital Murder. During her time as a magistrate, she has worked to simplify the court’s processes to accommodate the great volume of bond certifications that are now required by Senate Bill 6. She is currently working on the redesign of the first and second floors of the El Paso County Detention Facility to streamline the booking process and assist in getting our law enforcement officers back on the street.
